Falls-Morrisville Wawa Under Construction

Work on the Wawa near the Falls-Morrisville municipal border was scheduled to start Monday, weather permitting, a construction company representative confirmed. Developer Morrisville Commons received construction permits from the township in early October, after a zoning appeal that previously had held up the project was withdrawn in early August.

For Falls area residents, it’s now just a hop, skip and a jump — and a few months of construction — until they can grab sandwiches and gas closer to home.

Work on the Wawa at the intersection of West Trenton Avenue and Pine Grove Road was scheduled to start Monday, though rainy weather could slow the start, a representative from Moorestown, New Jersey-based Grace Construction confirmed Monday morning.

Falls Manager Peter Gray said in an email the township issued permits for the Wawa about a month beforehand, in early October.

Developer Morrisville Commons’ property now is fenced off, with a “Wawa coming soon” sign planted nearby. The site had remained barren for about a year and a half following a zoning appeal from the owners of the nearby Plaza Shell service station.
